A Batik Print Documentary: Wax, Dye and Patience
Batik is a centuries-old textile craft recognised by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Artisans apply hot wax to fabric in patterns, dye it, and repeat the process layer by layer before melting the wax away to reveal the design.
In this batik print documentary we filmed a traditional workshop where local artisans still work with methods passed down through generations.
The documentary captures every step, from drawing the design to removing the final layer of wax, and is part of our series of documentaries on handmade crafts.
