Live streaming in Riyadh is the one job with no second take. Everything else can be fixed in the edit. A broadcast that drops at minute four is simply gone, and everyone watching saw it happen.
Which is why most of the work on a live job happens before anyone goes on air. We handle live streaming to social channels ourselves, and where a job needs full broadcast or television delivery we bring in partners who specialise in it.
The internet is the risk, not the cameras
Venue wifi is not a broadcast connection. A wired line with a second path as backup is the minimum, because the single most common cause of a failed stream is a venue assuring everyone that the wifi is fine.
Sound fails more often than picture
Viewers forgive a soft image and leave instantly over bad audio. Wired where we can, wireless with backup where we cannot, and someone monitoring it the whole way through.
Always record locally
Every camera records to its own card while streaming. If the stream drops you still have the event, and you still have something to publish the next day.
Rehearse with the real speakers
Not a technical test with the crew. A run with the people who will actually be standing there, because that is when you discover the lectern is in the wrong place.
What live streaming in Riyadh needs from the venue
A wired connection you can test in advance, power that is not shared with the catering, and a camera position nobody will walk through. Ask for all three in writing. Being told on the phone that it will be fine on the day is not the same thing as a tested socket.
“Viewers forgive a soft picture. They leave instantly over bad sound.”
