Choosing a video production company in Saudi Arabia is hard because every showreel looks good. A showreel is the best thirty seconds of several years of work, and it tells you almost nothing about what working with someone is actually like.
Here is what we would ask if we were commissioning rather than pitching.
Ask to see a whole film, not a reel
A complete three minute film shows pacing, structure, sound and whether they can hold an idea together. A reel shows they own a camera.
Ask who is actually turning up
Plenty of companies pitch with senior people and then staff the day with whoever was free. Ask for the names of the crew who will be on your shoot.
A quote should say what it excludes
Rounds of revisions, music licensing, language versions, travel, and who owns the footage afterwards. Anything silent on those tends to come back later as an invoice.
Ask about permissions
Filming here needs approvals that vary by city, venue and subject. A company that waves that question away has either not worked here much, or is planning to make it your problem on the day.
Warning signs
A fixed price before anyone has asked what the film is for. No questions about who the audience is. And a promise that anything can be fixed in the edit.
What a video production company in Saudi Arabia should ask you
Who the film is for, where it will run, what should change after someone watches it, and when you need it by. A company that sends a quote before asking those four things is quoting on a guess, and you will both find that out later.
“A showreel proves they own a camera. A whole film proves they can tell a story.”
